Detroit casino revenues and wagering taxes reported for February 2017

Detroit, March 8, 2017 - The three Detroit casinos’ aggregate February revenue of $117.3 million was a fractional 0.7 percent higher than same-month results last year and topped January results by 4.7 percent.             

Year-to-date aggregate revenue was up 1.7 percent compared with January and February 2016 results.

Compared with February 2016 numbers, MGM’s monthly revenue rose 1.9 percent to $48.1 million. MotorCity revenue was up a fractional 0.4 percent to $40.6 million. Greektown revenue was down a fractional 0.8 percent to $28.6 million.

During February, market shares were:

  • MGM, 41 percent
  • MotorCity, 35 percent
  • Greektown, 24 percent
  • During February, the three Detroit casinos paid $9.5 million in gaming taxes to the state of Michigan compared with $9.4 million during February 2016.

    The three Detroit casinos reported submitting $14 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit during February.

    "The Michigan Gaming Control Board shall ensure the conduct of fair and honest gaming to protect the interests of the citizens of the State of Michigan."
