Michigan Gaming Control Board order adds four race days at Hazel Park Raceway
August 25, 2017
DETROIT, August 25, 2017 - The Michigan Gaming Control Board today issued an order allowing Hazel Park Raceway to host thoroughbred races on Sundays and Mondays from Sept. 10 through 18.
Hazel Park will offer four additional days of live horse racing this year as requested by the track and the Michigan Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association. Hazel Park originally applied for 36 live race days for 2017 and planned to run live racing through Sept. 2.
“Michigan’s live pari-mutuel racing season now will run 100 days, which is three days longer this year than in 2016,” said Richard Kalm, MGCB executive director. “That’s good for the industry.”
In June, Northville Downs requested and received approval for six additional racing dates for a total of 60 dates in 2017. Northville Downs will resume Standardbred racing Sept. 8 continuing on Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 16.
Simulcasting schedules remain unchanged through the end of the year.
