Detroit, January 29, 2021 – The Michigan Gaming Control Board today authorized the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and providers Poker Stars for online gaming and FoxBet for online sports betting (both part of the Stars Group) to launch at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, and Greektown Casino and provider Penn Sports Interactive/Barstool Sportsbook & Casino to launch online gaming at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. Greektown Casino began offering online sports betting with Barstool Sportsbook on Jan. 22.
“We welcome the addition of Odawa Casino, Poker Stars, Fox Bet and Barstool Casino to Michigan’s growing online gaming and sports wagering market,” said Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director. “Their participation will generate revenue to support education, tribal communities and the city of Detroit.”
The Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and Poker Stars will be the first in Michigan to offer peer-to-peer poker games online, Kalm said. A law permitting multijurisdictional poker recently was signed in Michigan, but is not yet in effect and cannot begin until agreements are negotiated with other states.
Odawa and Greektown will be the ninth and 10th casinos to provide both online gaming and sports betting in Michigan. Currently, eight casinos and providers are authorized to offer both forms of online wagering in the state. The Lac Vieux Desert Tribe and provider PointsBet may offer online sports betting only.
The MGCB will report January revenue for online gaming and sports betting after Feb. 10.
"The Michigan Gaming Control Board shall ensure the conduct of fair and honest gaming to protect the interests of the citizens of the State of Michigan."
