Rudy Flores, Lenawee County
Rudy Flores is a lifelong resident of Adrian Michigan, who advocates for the Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker, and Immigrant communities, by working with local community service providers to provide resources, information, education and support.
Rudy began his career in Human Services in 1992 with Catholic Social Services, Community Mental Health, and currently serves as Migrant Program Specialist with the Farmworker Outreach Service Division of the Department of Health and Human Services and has served the State of Michigan Bureau of Juvenile Justice, DHHS Services, and Migrant Program since April 2000.
Rudy has served as Board Trustee for Adrian Public School District 2016-2022, The Adrian REA Literacy Center 2016-2022, and currently serves on ProMedica Board of Directors. Rudy serves as Chairman of the Southeastern Michigan Migrant Resource Council 2015-Present, and Co-Chairman of Adrian chapter of Latino Leaders for Enhancement Advocacy and Development, Adrian Ebeid Neighborhood Promise steering committee, the Lenawee/Monroe County Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee through the Department of Health and Human Services, Washtenaw Solidarity with Farmworkers Connect the Camps Initiative, and community volunteer.
Rudy is the recipient of the 2018 Service Above Self Award from Adrian Morning Rotary, 2019 Lenawee NAACP’s Humanitarian Award, Hispanic Latino Commission’s 2020 Vida Award, 2022 Monroe County Community College’s Diversity Program of the Year Award, 2022 Governors Service Award, 2023 Cesar Chavez Drive recognition, and 2023 Community Hero Award through Midwest Energy & Communications and Catherine Cobb Safehouse, and 2024 MLK Community Service award.
Rudy is the youngest of his 13 siblings from a bilingual/bicultural family who relocated to Adrian in the 1950’s. Rudy’s family worked in factories, building, and as seasonal farmworkers.
Rudy graduated from Adrian High School and received Bachelor of Social Work from Spring Arbor University.
Rudy has been married to Rochelle Flores since August 1994 and has four adult children and ten grandchildren.
Rudy is committed to serving the Latino/a and Essential Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker, and Immigrant community through the SEMMRC and advocates for the underserved community by providing public and community resources and Awareness, Education, and Outreach of their presence, needs, and rich culture of this great population to encourage people to move toward acceptance, understanding, support and equitable inclusion of all groups and cultures.
