Volunteers Needed to Support Refugee Resettlement Efforts in Michigan

The Office of Global Michigan is calling for volunteers to help support refugee resettlement efforts here in Michigan through a new private sponsorship program. Welcome Corps, a new service opportunity launched by the federal government in January, empowers everyday Americans to make a difference in their communities by welcoming refugees from around the world seeking freedom and safety.

To get started or to learn more about qualifications, visit the Welcome Corps website.

“The Office of Global Michigan’s goal is to make Michigan the home for opportunity for our immigrant, refugee and ethnic communities,” said Poppy Hernandez, Michigan’s Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer and Director of the Office of Global Michigan. “With expanded refugee resettlement pathways, everyday Michiganders can provide refuge and build a state where people are welcomed with open arms.”
