A proud daughter and granddaughter of Mexican migrant farm workers, Veronica Beltran is an attorney, educator, researcher, and folkloric dance artist whose work centers on cultural preservation, community engagement, and educational equity. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2020 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Grand Valley State University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology at Wayne State University, where her research examines the psychosocial benefits of Mexican folkloric dance and its role in fostering cultural identity, belonging, and community well-being. She is also pursuing a bachelor's degree in Artistic Education with an emphasis in Dance through the Instituto Superior de Artes Nandehui in Veracruz, Mexico. Veronica has practiced immigration and business law and currently serves as Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Culture at Wayne Law, where she supports student success, leadership development, and inclusive campus initiatives.
In addition, she serves on the board of the Latinx Faculty and Staff Association and helped found the Ballet Folklórico de Wayne State University, teaching and promoting Mexican folkloric dance both on campus and throughout the broader community. As a first-generation scholar, artist, and advocate, Veronica is committed to bridging law, education, research, and the arts to empower communities and preserve cultural traditions for future generations.
