Learn about PFAS research volunteer opportunities in L'Anse
Visit the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) Debweyendan Indigenous Gardens (DIGs) in L'Anse to learn about PFAS research happening on site in 2027. This event is open to DIGs gardeners, prospective volunteers, and learners of many kinds!
DIGs research 2027 will focus on measuring PFAS levels in fish waste, compost, plants, and soils.
Volunteers are needed!
Volunteers will monitor PFAS levels in garden plants and soils.
This PFAS research project focuses on:
- What are the BENEFITS of fish waste compost for the DIGs?
- What DIGs plants are at most RISK of PFAS absorption?
- What PFAS levels are in soils & plants at the DIGs?
- Are there ways to reduce PFAS uptake for specific DIGs plants?
