There are two major classes of firefighting foam: Class A and Class B. Class B is also called Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) and is usually created using PFAS. It is a highly effective foam used for fighting high-hazard flammable liquid fires, like gasoline, oil, and jet fuel.

MPART agencies, in collaboration with federal agencies and community partners, participate in public meetings to provide information and updates to communities with PFAS sites. Test results and updates on the site investigations as well as other information are provided at these meetings. The public is welcome to attend.
