Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments and Reappointments 
 


LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Cherry Committee, Michigan Corn Marketing Program Committee and Michigan Tree Fruit Commission.

Michigan Cherry Committee 

Michael A. DeRuiter of Hart, is the vice president of DeRuiter Farms, Inc.  Mr. DeRuiter reappointed to represent District 2 tart cherry growers for a term expiring February 1, 2022. 

Joseph Muvrin of Paw Paw, is the owner of Muvrin Farms.  Mr. Muvrin is reappointed to represent District 3 sweet cherry growers for a term expiring February 1, 2022. 

Daryl K. Peterson of Ludington, is the president of Bushel Basket Orchards, Inc.  Mr. Peterson is reappointed to represent District 2 sweet cherry growers for a term expiring February 1, 2022. 

The Michigan Cherry Committee is a board that aims to improve the economic position of Michigan sweet and tart cherry growers by creating greater marketing opportunities.  This is done by performing market research, disseminating market information, and expanding markets for cherries.   

Michigan Corn Marketing Program Committee 

Craig McManus of Eaton Rapids, is the president of M&W Seeds, Inc.  Mr. McManus is reappointed to represent District 5 growers for a term expiring March 5, 2022. 

Paul B. Wagner of Grawn, is partner and owner of Wagner Farms LLC.  Mr. Wagner is reappointed to represent District 9 growers for a term expiring March 5, 2022. 

The Michigan Corn Marketing Committee is a board that aims to improve the economic position of Michigan corn growers by creating greater marketing opportunities.  This is done by performing market research, disseminating market information, and expanding markets for corn. 

The appointments are subject to advice and consent by the Senate.
