Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments to State Board of Ethics
– Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the State Board of Ethics.LANSING, Mich.
Leslee J. Fritz, Democrat, of Albion, is the senior pastor at University United Methodist Church in East Lansing. Reverend Fritz is appointed to succeed Mary Ann Middaugh for a term expiring February 7, 2023.
Catherine McClure, Democrat, of Chelsea, has recently served as legal counsel and policy analyst for the Michigan Senate Democratic Caucus. Ms. McClure is appointed to succeed Peter Webster for a term expiring February 7, 2023. She will also serve as Chair for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
“Michiganders need to trust that the decisions coming out of Lansing will protect them and their families, which is why it’s so important to have a strong State Board of Ethics,” Whitmer said. “Leslee and Catherine will ensure that our state government continues to be held to the highest ethical standards that Michigan has ever seen.”
The Board of Ethics is authorized to determine the ethical conduct of classified or unclassified state employees, and public officers of the executive branch of Michigan state government who are appointed by the Governor or another executive department official.
The appointments are subject to advice and consent of the Senate.
