Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions

 

– Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Finance Authority Board of Directors and the Michigan Apple Committee:Lansing, Mich.

 

Michigan Finance Authority Board of Directors

Luke A. Forrest, a Democrat of Ann Arbor, is the director of Civic Innovation Labs at the Michigan Municipal League. Mr. Forrest is appointed to succeed Donald H. Gilmer to represent residents of the state with experience in natural resources and environmental issues or relating to public finance for a term expiring September 30, 2020.

The Michigan Finance Authority provides effective, low-cost options to finance the acquisition, construction, improvement, or alteration of land, facilities, equipment, the payment of project costs, or to refinance existing debt. The Authority accomplishes this by working with municipalities, schools, healthcare providers, colleges and universities, and college students.

This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

Michigan Apple Committee

Kimberly A. Kropf of Lowell is a secretary at Hart Farm LLC. Mrs. Kropf is appointed to succeed Tony R. Blattner to represent District 3 growers for a term expiring April 1, 2022.

Caleb J. Coulter of New Era is the owner and operator of New Era’s American Apple LLC and the Vice-chair of the Oceana County Conservation District. Mr. Coulter is appointed to succeed Arthur Lister to represent District 4 growers for a term expiring April 1, 2022.

The Michigan Apple Committee is dedicated to improving the profitability of Michigan's fresh and processed apple industries. The Committee coordinates market development, educational activities, and research that benefits the 1000 family apple growers in Michigan through improved profitability, ensuring the continued success of this sector of Michigan agriculture.
