Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals and the Residential Builders’ and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors’ Board:LANSING, Mich. --
Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals
Mr. Rupp has also been designated to serve as Chairperson for a term expiring March 18, 2023. whose term expired March 18, 2019, to represent the general public for a term expiring March 18, 2023. ZurvalecJohn Rupp, Jr., of West Bloomfield, is a senior safety consultant and principal of TCT Safety, Inc., and an OSHA authorized trainer for general industry and construction industry. The Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals reviews all contested Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) cases involving safety and health citations, orders, and appeals. The Board may order testimony at hearings, compel witnesses or require depositions, and further promulgates rules of procedure for hearings, maintaining consistency with any federal occupation safety or health standard.
This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board
Herman B. Harris, of Ann Arbor, is the president and owner of Harris Homes Carpentry, Inc. and the president and labor relations director of the Michigan Carpentry Contractors Association. Mr. Harris is appointed to succeed Greg Powell whose term expired March 31, 2019, to represent licensed residential builders for a term expiring March 31, 2023.

The Residential Builders’ and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors’ Board was created to license and regulate persons engaged in the construction of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure, or persons who undertake the repair, alteration, addition, subtraction or improvement of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure for compensation other than wages for personal labor.
