Governor Whitmer Signs Senate Bill 239
LANSING, Mich. – Today Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 239. Senate Bill 239 is sponsored by Senator Stephanie Chang.
Senate Bill 239 will allow students enrolled in an accredited program for funeral service or mortuary science at a school, college, or university to work with licensees in the practice of mortuary science.
This bill will clarify a conflict in law to allow a longstanding practice, allowing educators to continue operating without concern of unintentionally violating the law.
Senate Bill 239 passed in the Michigan House on June 4, 2019 and the Michigan Senate on June 5, 2019.
