March 18 - 22, 2019: Environmental Health Week

WHEREAS, the environmental health profession is dedicated to the improvement of public health through management of the environment and preventative measures to safeguard public health. Its efforts contribute to the continued improvement and protection of the public's general welfare; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan's environmental health profession applies science-based expertise to known and potential problems, which often results in avoiding health hazards and reducing total health care costs; and,
WHEREAS, during this week, we join with the Michigan Environmental Health Association to encourage citizens throughout the state to learn more about the environmental health profession and to recognize its many contributions; and,
WHEREAS, throughout the years, the Michigan Environmental Health Association has held an annual conference and will hold its 75th Annual Education Conference from March 20 – 22, 2019 to collectively understand and shape the environmental health profession to best serve public health interests.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 18 – 22, 2019, as Environmental Health Week in Michigan.
