May 4, 2019: Auctioneers Day

WHEREAS, auctioneering is one of history’s oldest professions; and,

 

WHEREAS, auctions are a modern practice of the traditional competitive free enterprise system; and,

 

WHEREAS, auctions continue to be the most fair, transparent, and effective means of establishing fair market value; and,

 

WHEREAS, auctioneers create a competitive marketplace which connect buyers with sellers who are wishing to sell their assets for the highest dollar value; and,

 

WHEREAS, the National Auctioneers Association and its members strive to advance the auction method of marketing, while at the same time uphold the highest standards of professionalism in serving the American public; and,

 

WHEREAS, auctioneers are proud business owners who support their communities; and,

 

WHEREAS, an Auctioneers Day has been observed for more than 25 years by state and local government as well as private organizations; and,

 

WHEREAS, the designation of Auctioneers Day by the State of Michigan will heighten the awareness of the public to the contributions made by auctions and auctioneers throughout the history of our nation and its economy;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 4, 2019, as Auctioneers Day in Michigan
