May 13, 2019: Children of Fallen Patriots Day
May 13, 2019
WHEREAS, the men and woman of our Armed Forces continue to work together to protect and serve the citizens of the United States and throughout our nation’s history. Many of these patriots have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms; and,
WHEREAS, these fallen service members return home to their families where a folded flag represents the most solemn of rites; and,
WHEREAS, citizens of Michigan will give pause and remember the sacrifice of our fallen patriots as well as the children they have left behind; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan is proud to be one of the select states in the United States that has honored Children of Fallen Patriots Day on May 13; thus, celebrating the past, present, and future of Michigan‘s long-standing support for the children of our fallen patriots;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 13, 2019, as Children of Fallen Patriots Day in Michigan.
