WHEREAS, internal auditors worldwide are viewed as the right arm of management who provide analyses, evaluation, recommendations, counsel, and information regarding activities they review; and,
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an independent and objective assurance activity designed to add value and improve an organization’s operations; and,
WHEREAS, internal auditors help an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes; and,
WHEREAS, the Institute of Internal Auditors is an international professional association representing more than 185,000 members in business, industry, government, and education in more than 100 countries; and,
WHEREAS, the Institute of Internal Auditors has established and issued the “Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing”; and,
WHEREAS, 2019 marks the 78th anniversary of the Institute of Internal Auditors, which continues to serve not only the members and certified internal auditors in Michigan, but also the internal auditing profession as a whole;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 26-31, 2019, as Internal Audit Week in Michigan.
