WHEREAS, our courageous men and women in our armed forces have selflessly put the defense of the United States of America ahead of their own personal safety and comfort; and,
WHEREAS, it is vital to help support the fallen and disabled members of our armed forces and their families and to honor veterans of all wars and acknowledge their sacrifice; and,
WHEREAS, golf courses across the nation host Tee It Up for the Troops events to raise funds and awareness in support and honor of the service and sacrifice of the members of our armed forces, veterans and their families; and,
WHEREAS, Tee It Up for the Troops has been able to help thousands of our men and women and veterans in our United States Military as well as their families through the generosity of grateful Americans who have stepped up to the tee; and,
WHEREAS, Tee it up for the Troops Day will continue to support programs which enhance the lives of those who serve or have served on our behalf; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 15, 2019, as Tee It Up for the Troops Day in Michigan.
