June 29, 2019: Scleroderma Awareness Day

WHEREAS, community health is the foundation for a caring and productive society, and our future rests with our ability to search for and find cures as well as adequately treat individuals who are afflicted with a variety of illnesses; and,
WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of people are living with scleroderma and related conditions and continue to wait for a cure; and,
WHEREAS, The Scleroderma Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through scleroderma education and awareness; and,
WHEREAS, The Scleroderma Foundation works to lessen the suffering related to this disease through research, service, and patient family and support; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 29, 2019, as Scleroderma Awareness Day in Michigan and urge all citizen of the State of Michigan to recognize the seriousness of this disease.
