WHEREAS, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) professionals are the first line of defense against money laundering and terrorist financing, playing a vital role in uncovering criminal threats to Michigan and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, BSA and AML professionals in financial institutions, agencies, and law enforcement hold the weight of protecting our citizens nationally, regionally, and locally; and,
WHEREAS, these BSA and AML professionals are crucial to our defense against crimes like money laundering, elder abuse, human trafficking, and terrorist financing, and they work tirelessly with other local law enforcement agencies to uncover these criminal activities and protect the citizens of our great state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 26, 2019, as BSA and AML Professional Day in Michigan.
