November 28, 2019: Albanian Independence Day

WHEREAS, the state of Michigan is pleased to join Albanian Americans throughout Michigan in recognizing November 28, 2019, as Albanian Independence Day; and,
WHEREAS, on November 28, 1912, Albanian hero, Ismail Qemali, gathered delegates in Vlora, Albania, to approve the Declaration of Independence and Albania restored its status as an independent country that was free of foreign invasion; and,
WHEREAS, this year, the state of Michigan is proud to the celebrate the 107th independence anniversary of Albania; and,
WHEREAS, still today, Michigan’s Albanian American citizens continue to bring their rich culture and tradition to Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, they contribute greatly to Michigan as they are helpful, dedicated pillars of communities, diligent business owners, and intelligent professionals thriving in regions throughout the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor and acting governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 28, 2019, as Albanian Independence Day in Michigan.
