WHEREAS, human resources professionals are an organization’s experts for staffing, compensation, benefits, diversity initiatives, training and career development, employee and labor relations and safety and health; and,
WHEREAS, the human resources professionals that work in Michigan’s businesses, organizations, schools and state and local government agencies are the committed team members tasked with obtaining and growing our workforce; and,
WHEREAS, these professionals help employers adapt to an ever-changing and competitive work environment while responding to workplace needs and economic challenges; and,
WHEREAS, attracting, recruiting, training and maintaining a talented and skilled workforce plays an essential role as we work to reinvent the great state of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, on this day, we recognize the vital importance of human resources professionals in our state and encourage all Michiganders to learn more about the career opportunities available in human resources;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 23, 2020, as Michigan HR Day.
