WHEREAS, community health is the foundation for a caring and productive society, and our future rests with our ability to search for and find cures, as well as adequately treat individuals who are afflicted with a variety of illnesses; and,
WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of people are living with scleroderma and related conditions, and continue to wait for a cure; and,
WHEREAS, The Scleroderma Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through scleroderma education and awareness; and,
WHEREAS, The Scleroderma Foundation works to lessen the suffering related to this disease through research, service, and patient family support;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 2020 as Scleroderma Awareness Month in Michigan.
