November 2020: ASVAB-CEP Awareness Month

WHEREAS, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery – Career Exploration Program (ASVAB-CEP) is a career development and exploration service that provides tenth through 12th grade students throughout the United States a full range of career options to consider based on their current skills, abilities, and interests, while also showing them career options they could pursue with further education and training; and,
WHEREAS, funded by the Department of Defense and provided with no direct cost to the State of Michigan or schools participating in the program, the ASVAB-CEP is offered to students without any obligation or expectation to serve in the U.S. military; and,
WHEREAS, the comprehensive career direction provided by school counseling services combined with the ASVAB-CEP, which meets the eight target areas for the Michigan Career Develop Model, may lead to enhanced educational experiences, increased career satisfaction, and adaptation to occupational change; and,
WHEREAS, the career development needs of Michigan’s students are of utmost importance, and, during this month, we raise awareness of the ASVAB-CEP throughout Michigan and encourage citizens to learn more about this valuable program;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2020 as ASVAB-CEP Awareness Month in Michigan.
