February 14 -20, 2021: Cardiac Rehabilitation Week

WHEREAS, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) is observing National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, February 14 –20, 2021, to draw attention to the role of cardiac rehabilitation in reducing the potentially devastating effects of heart disease; and,
WHEREAS, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death in both the United States and Michigan, and Michigan ranks eighth in the nation for number of deaths per year from heart disease; and,
WHEREAS, the strides made to conquer heart disease and the dedicated cardiac rehabilitation professionals in over 100 cardiac rehabilitation centers throughout the State of Michigan are deserving of recognition;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 14 –20, 2021, as Cardiac Rehabilitation Week in Michigan.
