WHEREAS, public speaking and leadership education is relied upon and needed throughout the world to help individuals improve their speaking, leadership, and presentation skills; and,
WHEREAS, a supportive and positive learning experience empowers individuals to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth; and,
WHEREAS, public speaking and leadership education enhances lives and increases confidence through improved communication, feedback, leadership, and engagement with audiences; and,
WHEREAS, there are many clubs and organizations dedicated to improving public speaking and leadership skills representing at least 2,200 members in Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, educational programs are available to teach basic and advanced presentation skills, meeting management, English language skills, leadership development, and parliamentary procedure;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2021 as Public Speaking and Leadership Month in Michigan.
