WHEREAS, the Michigan Fraternal Alliance and the Michigan Fraternal Insurance Counselors are nonprofit organizations of more than 329,856 members who believe in the power of fraternalism to address society's most pressing needs; and,
WHEREAS, through a commitment to volunteerism, charitable activities, and public service, the Michigan Fraternal Alliance and the Michigan Fraternal Insurance Counselors work on behalf of the people of Michigan by securing their members' futures through reliable financial service offerings; and,
WHEREAS, the members of the Michigan Fraternal Alliance and the Michigan Fraternal Insurance Counselors collaborate with Michigan's many diverse fraternal societies by volunteering their time to different charities and organizations each year;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 1, 2021, as Fraternal Day in Michigan and encourage all residents to follow the Michigan Fraternal Alliance and Michigan Fraternal Insurance Counselors' examples of goodwill and recognize the many contributions these organizations have made to the state of Michigan.
