November 2021: Project Management Month

WHEREAS, project management is the profession in which organizations, both public and private, plan, organize, secure, and manage resources to clearly define and execute visions and goals; and,
WHEREAS, project management relates directly to the project-driven and project-based fields of architecture and construction, aerospace, defense, software development and computer networking, telecommunications, and many Michigan project-related industries and organizations; and,
WHEREAS, project managers and their teams are dedicated professionals that lead and oversee various projects, and are responsible for accomplishing stated project objectives; and,
WHEREAS, project-based learning helps our young people develop project management as a life skill preparing them for their world of work in the 21st century; and,
WHEREAS, project management can be an essential force for good in helping improve society to be more just, participatory and sustainable; and,
WHEREAS, during this month of November, the Project Management Institute Great Lakes joins with the other Project Management Institute Michigan Chapters (Capital Area, Huron Valley, Thumb, and Western) to raise awareness of the project management profession in Michigan; we recognize project managers as key contributors to every aspect of industry in our great state of Michigan, and we encourage citizens to learn more about and explore project management career opportunities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2021 as Project Management Month in Michigan.
