November 18, 2021: Parental Involvement Day

WHEREAS, the state of Michigan recognizes that what is best for our kids is what is best for our state, and that kids thrive when they are supported by their families, friends, and neighbors in their school environments; and,
WHEREAS, research suggests that student's succeed when they are surrounded by caring adults that are involved in their education and schooling, which is why more than nine million family members participate in volunteer opportunities in schools throughout the United States each academic year; and,
WHEREAS, kids across Michigan benefit tremendously from the volunteer services of families and community members in local schools; and,
WHEREAS, today, the state of Michigan thanks the countless volunteers serving as mentors, tutors, club leaders, PTA and PTO members, classroom helpers, athletic coaches, and more to support our kids and schools;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2021, as Parental Involvement Day in Michigan.
