February 2022: Keep Michigan Warm Month

WHEREAS, the state of Michigan recognizes the challenges faced by low-income families and individuals in meeting home energy needs; and,
WHEREAS, during this month, we raise awareness of the sustained and critical need for home heating and energy assistance in Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, many Michiganders have faced deep financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and providing them with a warm place to stay or live is crucial to protecting their health and safety; and,
WHEREAS, we encourage residents throughout the state to help keep all Michiganders warm by showing support for the Coalition to Keep Michigan Warm, its members, and other local organizations and agencies that provide services and assistance to those without adequate resources;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 2022 as Keep Michigan Warm Month.
