October 2022: Public Speaking and Leadership Month

WHEREAS, public speaking and leadership education is relied upon and needed throughout the world to help individuals improve their speaking, leadership, and presentation skills; and,
WHEREAS, a supportive and positive learning experience empowers individuals to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth; and,
WHEREAS, public speaking and leadership education enhances lives and increases confidence through improved communication, feedback, leadership, and engagement with audiences; and,
WHEREAS, there are many clubs in Michigan representing at least 2,200 members; and,
WHEREAS, attending club meetings as a guest is free. So, feel free to visit as many as you like until you find a club that fits your personality; and,
WHEREAS, an educational program can be self-paced and includes basic and advanced presentation skills, meeting management, practicing English, leadership development, parliamentary procedure, an accredited professional speaking program, and competition for the championship of public speaking;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Witmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October as Public Speaking and Leadership Month in Michigan.
