WHEREAS, we join in celebrating Insurance Careers in Michigan and applaud the entrepreneurial spirit of Michigan's small, medium, and large insurance businesses; and,
WHEREAS, insurance plays a critical role in Michigan by supporting individuals, families, and businesses when making important decisions on protecting assets, livelihoods, and loved ones during traumatic and life-changing events; and,
WHEREAS, Insurance Careers Month promotes the stable, rewarding, and limitless opportunities for students and professionals of all backgrounds in the insurance industry; and,
WHEREAS, the over 80,000 individuals in the Michigan insurance sector are an integral part of local communities and give back countless dollars and hours through charitable contributions and volunteer efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the insurance industry has contributed over $38 billion to Michigan’s economy; and,
WHEREAS, careers in insurance are in high-demand, with an average salary of $60,000, substantially higher than the average of $45,000 for other industries;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 2023 as Insurance Careers Month in Michigan.
