WHEREAS, the earliest years of a child’s life lay the foundation for future learning and development, and every child deserves a great start;
WHEREAS, access to high-quality, affordable early learning and care programs set children and families up for success;
WHEREAS, high-quality early learning and care programs require skilled infant, toddler, and preschool professionals. These professionals work tirelessly to improve opportunities and outcomes for children and families; and,
WHEREAS, we must work together to increase awareness of the importance of children’s earliest years and celebrate the professionals who support children’s early cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language development; and,
WHEREAS, we are committed to strengthening the infant, toddler, and preschool profession by recruiting talented individuals to the profession, helping them grow in their career, and improving wages and benefits;
WHEREAS, we recognize and thank infant, toddler, and preschool professionals for their service to our youngest Michiganders and invite others to join us in celebrating them;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 21, 2023, as Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Professionals Day in Michigan.
