WHEREAS, Careers in Insurance Month is designated to increase public awareness about the challenging and rewarding careers in the insurance industry; and,
WHEREAS, insurance plays a critical role in Michigan by supporting individuals, families, and businesses when making important decisions on protecting assets, livelihoods, and loved ones during traumatic and life-changing events; and,
WHEREAS, Insurance Careers Month promotes stable, rewarding, and limitless opportunities for students and professionals of all backgrounds in the insurance industry; and,
WHEREAS, the over 140,000 individuals in the Michigan insurance sector are an integral part of local communities and give back to their communities through charitable contributions and volunteer efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the insurance industry has contributed over $38 billion to help the growth of Michigan’s economy over the past year; and,
WHEREAS, careers in insurance are in high demand and were identified as high-wage careers through 2025;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 2024 as Insurance Careers Month in Michigan.
