July 14, 2024: Car Wash Day

WHEREAS, vehicles are significant investments that require regular care and service to ensure their optimal durability and performance, particularly given Michigan's diverse weather conditions; and,

WHEREAS, vehicles are often washed once every three weeks to remove dirt, dust, grime, and harmful substances like road salt, which can lead to rust and other damage; and,

WHEREAS, commuters and frequent travelers across Michigan may require additional car care due to increased exposure to road debris and natural elements, making regular maintenance crucial for safety and longevity; and,

WHEREAS, the owners and operators of car wash and car care facilities throughout the state of Michigan have demonstrated standards of professionalism by retaining the proper credentials, providing quality services, and appropriately addressing the needs of their customers; and,

WHEREAS, Car Wash Day lends Michigan the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of regular car washes among vehicle owners; and,

WHEREAS, National Car Wash Day reminds all Michiganders that consistent and proper vehicle care is vital for the longevity and reliability of their vehicles; and,

WHEREAS, automobiles hold a special place in Michigan's history and economy, from the pioneering days of the automotive industry in Detroit to the present, making vehicle care a part of our cultural heritage;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim July 14, 2024, as Car Wash Day in Michigan.
