September 15-21, 2024: Radiologic Technologist Week

WHEREAS, there are more than 333,000 radiologic technologists serving in the United States and approximately 11,000 currently serving in Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, radiologic technologists obtain extensive education and training which typically leads to a certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree; in most states, additional licensure and certification is required; and,

WHEREAS, the radiologic technologist field is divided into several groups, including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, cardiovascular interventional technology, mammography, as well as M.R.I. and CT scanning;

WHEREAS, radiologic technologists are a vital part of the medical team, serving in clinics, hospitals, and doctor's offices and help to improve the health of people across our state; and,

WHEREAS, during this week, we join with the Michigan Society of Radiologic Technologists to recognize radiologic technologists serving in Michigan; we encourage all residents to learn more about careers in radiologic technology;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September 15-21, 2024, as Radiologic Technologist Week in Michigan.
