January 9, 2025: Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers, including police officers, sheriff's deputies, state troopers, federal agents, corrections officers, conservation officers, and motor carrier officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve the people of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, these brave men and women demonstrate unwavering commitment, integrity, and professionalism in their service to the communities they serve, often in challenging and high-risk situations; and,
WHEREAS, on this day, we should honor the immense challenges and demands that Michigan’s law enforcement officers face and offer our respect and gratitude for their dedication to protecting the safety and well-being of our state; and,
WHEREAS, I am proud to work closely with local and state law enforcement officers to keep Michigan safe and make investments so that law enforcement agencies in Michigan have the resources they need to protect public safety in their communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 9, 2025, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Michigan.
