WHEREAS, we honor and respect our elders and citizens of any age with physical or intellectual disabilities who reside in skilled nursing facilities in Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, skilled nursing facilities throughout Michigan are holding activities in observance of National Skilled Nursing Care Week, May 11 through 17, 2025, using this year’s theme of “Tapestry of Life,” highlighting the meaningful stories that make up each person’s journey in skilled nursing care; and,
WHEREAS, we recognize nursing facility caregivers and residents were on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, enduring the most challenging experience the skilled nursing profession has ever faced; and,
WHEREAS, we urge all citizens to visit or call a loved one, family member, or friend residing in any care setting and offer a kind word and spend time participating in various activities to unite those from all walks of life in need of our continuing love and support; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan nursing facilities are committed to quality health care, and we join all residents, patients, caregivers, nurses, staff, and volunteers in celebrating this special week;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 11 – 17, 2025, as Skilled Nursing Care Week in Michigan.
