November 7, 2025: Youth Entrepreneurship Day

WHEREAS, the global education nonprofit Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), which has fueled the future for 1.4 million young people since 1987, is celebrating Youth Entrepreneurship Day on November 7, 2025; and,

WHEREAS, along with organizations from the Coalition of Entrepreneurship Education Organizations, including NAF, CAPS Network, Virtual Enterprises and Project Lead the Way, interest in entrepreneurship education is steadily increasing across Michigan and the United States; and,

WHEREAS, NFTE’s research shows that entrepreneurship education creates well-rounded and career-ready students by teaching a set of characteristics, behaviors, and skills that help people identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings; and

WHEREAS, entrepreneurship education programs equip students from under-resourced communities and diverse backgrounds with skills to learn how to start their own businesses; and,

WHEREAS, businesses across the country are increasingly seeking individuals who possess the entrepreneurial mindset, including skills in critical thinking and problem solving, flexibility and adaptability, communications and collaboration, comfort with risk, initiative and self-reliance, opportunity recognition, creativity and innovation and the ability to look toward their futures and plan and achieve long-term goals; and,

WHEREAS, entrepreneurship education is proven to help close the achievement gap and fuel a future of a new generation of diverse entrepreneurs and business leaders into the United States business market; and,

WHEREAS, thousands students are served by NFTE and our coalition organizations across the State of Michigan;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim, November 7, 2025, as Youth Entrepreneurship Day in Michigan.
