WHEREAS, hotel employees are the heart of the hospitality industry, providing exceptional service, welcoming guests, and strengthening communities across Michigan and throughout the nation; and,
WHEREAS, hotels in Michigan employ approximately 51,541 individuals, contributing to an industry that supports more than 9.2 million jobs nationwide; and,
WHEREAS, the contributions of hotel employees throughout Michigan showcase the best of hospitality every day; and,
WHEREAS, the hospitality industry is committed to creating a welcoming workplace where individuals can begin their careers, develop new skills, and achieve upward mobility; and,
WHEREAS, today we celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and service of hotel employees whose work helps make Michigan a welcoming destination for visitors and a stronger place to live and work;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Governor Gretchen Whitmer of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September 1, 2026 as National Hotel Employee Day in Michigan.
