WHEREAS, First Responders Children’s Foundation’s Roll Call of Heroes recognizes all of the country’s first responders, including: police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and other organizations in the public safety sector who selflessly serve the public in the event of an emergency; and,
WHEREAS, first responders are integral to every community across America, showcasing bravery, courage, and dedication when risking their safety in the execution of their duties to protect us every day; and,
WHEREAS, first responders are the first line of defense, protecting the public against all threats, both domestic and foreign; and,
WHEREAS, first responders stand ready to come to the aid of the citizens of Michigan 24 hours a day; and,
WHEREAS, the daily sacrifices that first responders and their families make have an inspirational and enduring impact on all communities across the country; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, and Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor of Michigan, hereby proclaim October 28, 2026, to be FIRST RESPONDERS DAY in Michigan and encourage all citizens to acknowledge, honor, and celebrate first responders and their impact on our communities across the country.
