DROP Eligibility

Police tapeMembers of the State Police Retirement System who have 25 or more years of service credit may elect to participate in the DROP. Participation of Michigan State Police Troopers Association (MSPTA) members is contingent on union approval. Your choice to enroll in the DROP is completely voluntary.

You may be able to qualify for the DROP earlier in your career if you arrange for the granting or purchasing of service credit for time spent in the military, in the VISTA program or the Peace Corps, or for reduction in hours or separations in service for maternity, paternity, or child-rearing. Click for more information about purchasing service credit. You must complete your service credit purchases before your DROP start date.
