Family Advisory Board

In 2023, The Michigan Department of Corrections established the Family Advisory Board (FAB).

The Family Advisory Board has four main goals:

  1. Foster effective communication between the department and the loved ones of prisoners
  2. Strengthen efforts for family reunification
  3. Build stronger families and communities upon reentry
  4. Provide feedback on relevant activities within the department

The FAB held its first public meeting on April 9, 2024. During the meeting, family members and loved ones provided feedback to the MDOC on various topics. The MDOC's responses to the public concerns can be found here. 

The next public meeting will take place in Detroit on October 15, 2024.
