Family Advisory Board
FAB is now looking for new members!
You can express interest here. FAB members meet once per month (1 hour), as well as two in-person meetings per year.
FAB will determine what needs to be carried out between meetings by board members. The position is not compensated, but mileage to the two in-person meetings each year is reimbursed by the state.
Note: Submitting a form is an expression of interest and not everyone will be selected for the role.
In 2023, The Michigan Department of Corrections established the Family Advisory Board (FAB).
The Family Advisory Board has four main goals:
- Foster effective communication between the department and the loved ones of prisoners
- Strengthen efforts for family reunification
- Build stronger families and communities upon reentry
- Provide feedback on relevant activities within the department
The FAB held its first public meeting on April 9, 2024. During the meeting, family members and loved ones provided feedback to the MDOC on various topics.
