The Michigan Parole Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 30, 2009 , to consider the possible commutation of sentence for Lee Rogers Newman, Jr. #150994. It will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Duane Waters Hospital, Jackson, Michigan.
Lee Rogers Newman, Jr. was sentenced on October 22, 1980 from Van Buren County to a term of Life for the crime of Murder 1st Degree and to a term of 35y - 65y for the crime of Assault with Intent to Murder. Mr. Newman was also sentenced on December 30, 1987 from Jackson County to a term of 1y-5y for the crime of Inmate in Possession of Marijuana.
The hearing is required under MCLA 791.244 prior to any recommendation for executive clemency by the Michigan Parole Board.
