U.S. Navy Silent Swarm 26 Exercise to get underway at Michigan NADWC
July 13, 2026
LANSING, Mich. — The National All-Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC), including the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), will host Silent Swarm 26, July 13–24, with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), serving as the lead agency for the advanced uncrewed systems exercise.
The exercise, part of NSWC Crane’s scientific mission, includes experimentation with technologies that can be employed on small multi-domain unmanned systems and may include manned/unmanned surface vessels in the water and small unmanned airborne systems. The results from these experiments will improve spectrum maneuver and resilience capabilities for military personnel.
Additionally, military and civilian personnel will be working with tripod-mounted communications and radar equipment. All equipment will be used to assess interoperability and performance of various communications and radar system configurations. Military radio frequencies involved in the testing will not interfere with other frequencies or electronic communications in the area. During this event, mariners can expect many small, unmanned surface, sub-surface and air vehicles in operation. All these unmanned platforms will have manned vessels in the vicinity for control and safety. If members of the public see vessels in the water or unmanned airborne systems, please do not attempt to approach, touch or interfere with them.
