Photo/Video Opportunity Today Additional National Guard Members Join Water Response Teams

FLINT, Mich. – Between today and tomorrow, additional National Guard soldiers and airmen are joining water response teams going door-to-door in Flint delivering water supplies including free bottled water, filters, replacement cartridges, and water testing kits to residents.

Resources and efforts continue to expand with more volunteers along with the additional National Guard members. To date, 22,129 homes have been visited by the water response teams, comprised of local and state personnel, American Red Cross, and volunteers.

"The additional National Guard soldiers will allow us to quickly and efficiently ensure each home will be visited," said Capt. Chris Kelenske, deputy state director of emergency management and homeland security and commander of the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division. "As we continue to streamline and improve our distribution, we’re able to reach more homes to ensure every resident has the water resources they need."
