Policy on Public Involvement in EGLE Programs
Environmental Justice began as a grassroots movement fueled by citizen concern. Thus, EGLE's recently revised Policy on Public Involvement in Department Decisions is at the core of the Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate's work. The policy outlines the Department’s responsibilities for communicating a pending EGLE decision to people and parties that it may affect and ensuring opportunities for public input before action is taken. The policy also dictates proper procedure for public notices of EGLE actions, EGLE duties to be fulfilled prior to public meetings, and efforts for the continued EGLE advancement in engagement with the public.
