The State’s Fiscal Year 2027 Budget includes a significant reduction in CPE Program funding. Commission staff is assessing 2027 program costs and will provide an update once agency allocations are determined. CPE disbursements are anticipated in December 2026.

Private Security Police History
Public Act 330 of 1968 was created to license and regulate training of security guards, private security police, private security guard agencies, private college security forces, and security alarm systems servicing. Effective October 1, 2002, Public Act 473 of 2002, transferred licensing responsibilities from the Department of State Police to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), except in regard to private security police. The Commission is responsible for administering the functions of PA 330 of 1968 as it relates to private security police.
