Upon approval, grant funding will be awarded to the employing agency to help offset eligible recruit salary and academy training costs, up to the program’s maximum award amount. The employing agency is responsible for making payments directly to the training academy, as well as covering the initial licensing examination registration fee.
If a recruit withdraws from the academy or separates from employment before the full grant amount has been used, any unused balance must be returned to the Commission for reallocation to the program. Approved reimbursements for additional allowable expenses, if applicable, will be included with the funding distribution.
Important: If a recruit withdraws or resigns, the employing agency must complete the required separation notification process and submit the PSAA Notification of Recruit Separation Form. Visit Forms and Resources to access the required form and related guidance.
Agencies receiving funding through the PSAA program for employed recruits are not eligible to receive Training to Locals (TTL) reimbursements for those same individuals. Recruits not funded through this program may remain eligible for TTL reimbursement, consistent with current program guidelines.
