Detroit casino revenues and wagering taxes reported for January 2018

Detroit, February 13, 2018 – The Detroit casinos’ January aggregate revenue of $111.4 million was a fractional 0.5 percent lower than January 2017 results and 4 percent below December revenue.
MGM’s January revenue at $47.7 million was 1.3 percent above January 2017 results. Both MotorCity and Greektown recorded monthly revenue decreases when compared with January 2017 numbers. MotorCity fell 1.1 percent to $38 million, and Greektown dropped 2.7 percent to $25.7 million.
The monthly market shares were:
- MGM, 43 percent
- MotorCity, 34 percent
- Greektown, 23 percent
The three Detroit casinos paid $9 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan during January compared with $9.1 million during the same month last year.
During January, the three Detroit casinos reported submitting $13.3 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
"The Michigan Gaming Control Board shall ensure the conduct of fair and honest gaming to protect the interests of the citizens of the State of Michigan."
